A Dedicated 10sqm Workspace for a More Complete Home Office Setup
Zenith gives you a separate place for focused work without converting a bedroom or taking over a shared living area. Its 10sqm footprint provides practical room for your desk, technology and storage while remaining compact enough for many Melbourne backyards.
Zenith by Backyard Oasis is a 10sqm backyard office pod in Melbourne with a prefabricated steel structure, full insulation, double-glazed openings and electrical provisions. It provides a dedicated space for work, study or other non-habitable personal uses outside the main house.

Zenith suits people who want their backyard office to function as a proper everyday workspace, rather than somewhere to occasionally open a laptop.
The 10sqm footprint gives you more flexibility to plan the room around how you actually work.
Zenith may suit you if you need:
If your priority is primarily working from home, Zenith keeps the design focused on the space you need rather than giving you a larger multipurpose room you may not use.
Ten square metres can give you considerably more planning flexibility than a desk squeezed into a spare corner, but the right layout depends on your furniture and working habits.
Plan the space around the desk you actually want to use, whether that means additional monitors, technology or equipment that needs to remain permanently connected.
Shelving, drawers or compact cabinetry can help keep documents and work equipment inside the office rather than spreading back into the house.
A dedicated 10sqm room provides greater scope to position furniture around circulation and the glazed openings instead of simply fitting a desk wherever space remains.
Zenith can give your working day a defined location. When you finish, your equipment stays where it belongs and you return to the main house.
Zenith combines a prefabricated steel structure with specified insulation, Weathertex exterior cladding, double glazing, finished flooring and electrical provisions.
The Zenith specification includes a prefabricated steel subfloor, walls and roof, creating the structural framework of the Workpod.
The current specification lists R2.5 wall insulation, R1.5 floor insulation and R2.5 ceiling insulation to support thermal performance.
Weathertex cladding is specified for the façade and one side, with a choice of colour providing scope to personalise the exterior.
Zenith includes a double-glazed double-sliding door, an awning window and two sliding windows, bringing natural light into the workspace.
Laminated flooring over underlay provides a finished internal floor ready for your preferred office furniture.
The electrical specification includes double GPOs, lighting provisions and a caravan socket, providing practical electrical infrastructure for your workspace.
Being 10sqm does not automatically make Zenith permit-free. Victorian building permit exemptions for certain small non-habitable structures depend on more than floor area alone.
The exact dimensions, height, proposed use, setbacks, siting and other building requirements need to be checked. Your planning zone, overlays and other property-specific controls can also influence what can be built and where.
This is particularly important when searching for a small office pod with no permit, because the exemption applies to the circumstances of the structure and property, not simply the product name or advertised floor area.
Backyard Oasis can review your intended use and proposed location to help establish the requirements relevant to your project.
Zenith makes sense when your priority is a dedicated home office with enough room for a more developed workstation, while staying within a compact 10sqm footprint.
The model itself is only part of the decision. Your available backyard area, installation access, boundaries, setbacks, existing buildings, trees, services and applicable property controls can influence where the pod can be positioned.
Your furniture matters too. Before choosing any home office pod, consider the dimensions of your desk, chair, storage and equipment so the internal layout is based on the way you actually work.
At 6.5sqm, MindHaven is worth comparing when you need a straightforward one-person office and preserving garden area is the bigger priority.

Zenith FAQs
For many one-person setups, 10sqm can provide practical room for a desk, chair, monitors, storage and everyday office equipment. Your furniture dimensions and working habits matter more than floor area alone, so planning Zenith around your actual workstation is important if you expect to use the space throughout the working week.
The current Zenith specification includes a prefabricated steel structure, Weathertex exterior cladding, R2.5 wall and ceiling insulation, R1.5 floor insulation, double-glazed doors and windows, laminated flooring and electrical provisions. Final selections and project-specific inclusions should be confirmed in your individual scope and quote.
A 10sqm backyard office pod is not automatically exempt from a building permit. Certain small non-habitable structures may qualify for exemptions when all relevant Victorian requirements are met. Size, height, intended use, setbacks, siting and property conditions should therefore be checked before assuming that an exemption applies.
Planning requirements depend on the property rather than the Zenith model alone. Your planning zone, overlays, proposed location and other site-specific controls may affect what is permitted. A property review helps identify the relevant requirements before the Workpod is positioned or construction proceeds.
Yes. The current specification lists R2.5 insulation to the walls and ceiling and R1.5 insulation to the floor. Insulation supports thermal performance, although internal comfort also depends on factors including orientation, weather, ventilation, glazing and any heating or cooling installed.
Yes. Zenith may suit study, hobbies, creative work or quiet personal use, depending on your requirements. If you plan to use it as sleeping accommodation or for another habitable purpose, tell Backyard Oasis early because different design, building and regulatory requirements may apply.
